NEW PLUNKING/TROLLING LURE:
I have been looking at the Mister Twister Top Prop® floats for some time now. It is now available in your favorite tackle store. By tying an egg loop knot in the top hook it serves as a trolling lure as well as a plunking lure.
The Top Prop lure is rigged with two Gamakatsu 3/0 Big River hooks. The top hook is tied with an egg loop knot to easily attach a salmon egg cluster. The bottom hook is not attached to the cluster and swings free.
Rigged as a trolling or plunking lure, tie a prawn to the lure as described below. Trolling speed should be 1.4-1.8 mph.
THE PROVEN CORKIE/SHAKER WING PLUNKING LURE:
The silver corkie/shaker wing plunking lure is rigged with two Gamakatsu 3/0 Big River hooks. The top hook is tied with an egg loop knot to easily attach a salmon egg cluster, or you can tie a prawn to the lure as described below. The bottom hook is not attached in the cluster configuration, and swings free, but when rigged with a prawn, it is tied firmly to the prawn.
Notice, that the hooks are lied in opposing directions. This hook arrangement will result in both hooks caught in the mouth, 75-80% of the time.
The top hook is tied with an egg loop knot so it can function as a plunking lure by attaching a salmon egg cluster in the loop.
To troll or plunk, attach a prawn to the lures by pushing the top hook through the bend of the prawn. Tie the trailing hook with miracle thread so it is positioned opposite the top hook. Be sure to wrap the head or carapace with the thread so it doesn’t separate from the body.
